Breakfast includes a choice of main course and a buffet filled with local ingredients!
At the newly rebranded Royal Pines Hotel Yonezawa, which reopened in March 2025, you can kickstart your day with an amazing breakfast that’ll leave you completely satisfied.

Breakfast is served at the first-floor restaurant and features a “choose your main dish” style along with a half-buffet. It’s available from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy a relaxing morning!
You can pick one main dish from the following options:
・Grilled Yonezawa Pork
・Japanese-style Side Dishes with Grilled Fish
・Safflower Egg and Charcuterie (Bacon and Eggs)
Each dish is packed with local Yamagata ingredients, giving you a taste of something truly special that you can only experience here!

A Rewarding Breakfast: Juicy Grilled Yonezawa Pork

I chose the “Grilled Yonezawa Pork” for my main dish. When the plate arrived, it featured a thick, juicy pork steak paired with vibrant beets that immediately caught my eye!
The pork was so tender that my knife slid right through, and each bite was bursting with juicy flavor. Pair it with the creamy mashed potatoes and the flavorful oil sauce on the side, and you’re in for an extra heavenly breakfast treat. Seriously, starting your day like this is pure bliss!

Comforting Japanese Breakfast: Grilled Fish and Tamago Kake Gohan

The “Japanese-style Side Dishes with Grilled Fish” option is another must-try. It comes with fluffy grilled salmon, flavorful rolled omelet, and glossy tamago kake gohan (rice with raw egg). Add a bowl of miso soup that you can ladle yourself, and you’ve got the perfect classic Japanese breakfast. It’s a comforting and heartwarming way to start your morning while traveling.
A Buffet Full of Local Flavors – Create Your Own Salad!

The buffet section is bursting with local love! You can make your own salad using fresh veggies from Kahoku Town, topped with original dressings or Yamagata’s famous “umai tare” sauce – so good, it’s addicting!
There’s also a colorful lineup of appetizers like carrot râpée, spice-flavored couscous, and chicken with beans. With a variety of breads, jams, rich butter keema curry, and lots of drinks, it’s dangerously easy to pile your plate a little too high.
What Makes Royal Pines Hotel Yonezawa Special

Located just a 5-minute drive from Yonezawa Station (served by the Yamagata Shinkansen and Ōu Main Line) and easily accessible from the Yonezawa I.C. on the Tōhoku Chūō Expressway, this 8-story hotel has 62 guest rooms along with banquet halls and restaurants.
It’s super convenient for both sightseeing and business trips, with famous spots like Uesugi Shrine and Yonezawa City Uesugi Museum nearby.
Rooms are cozy and well-equipped, offering scenic double rooms along with pajamas, tea sets, bath amenities, and more to help you relax and unwind after a long day.

Perfect for a Morning Stroll – Explore the Neighborhood!

After breakfast, head over to Matsugasaki Park (home of Uesugi Shrine) just a short walk from the hotel. In spring, the park bursts into color with beautiful cherry blossoms, and festive food stalls create a lively atmosphere. A peaceful stroll around the moat refreshes both your body and mind with crisp morning air.
You’ll also spot historical buildings around the area, which will definitely get you into travel mode! And don’t miss the chance to try Yamagata’s specialty “ukogi soft-serve ice cream” nearby – it’s lightly sweet with a fresh, soothing aroma that’ll make you smile with every bite.
