Just 1 Minute from the Station – Immerse Yourself in Kyoto with All Five Senses

Reopened under a new brand in April 2025, Hotel SUI Kyoto Kiyomizu is perfectly located just a one-minute walk from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station on the Keihan Main Line. With the Kamo River and Gojo Bridge just steps away, it’s a super convenient base for sightseeing around Kyoto.

During our stay, we enjoyed all kinds of thoughtful, Kyoto-style hospitality—from a matcha tea ceremony by a traditional hearth to late-night snacks and exclusive guest-only lounges. It felt like a cultural experience, all without leaving the hotel!

Matcha, Sake, and Late-Night Udon – Free Services That Put You in the Kyoto Mood

As soon as you enter the lobby, you’re greeted with a traditional Japanese setting featuring a hearth and taiko drums, setting the scene for a uniquely Kyoto experience right at check-in.

From 3 PM to 5 PM, there’s a welcome service where you can try a hands-on matcha ceremony and grill your own mitarashi dango over the hearth. It was such a fun and memorable moment, especially sharing the experience with international guests.

Next up is the happy hour from 5 PM to 7 PM, offering masu sake and light snacks. Pour your own chilled sake and enjoy it over crushed ice—it’s the perfect way to unwind in the early evening.

And from 9 PM to 10 PM, you can enjoy a rotating late-night snack menu. On our visit, they served cold udon—a cozy touch to end the day on a high note.

“YOASOBI” – A Guest-Only Lounge for a Unique Nighttime Experience

From 8 PM to 10:30 PM, guests can enjoy exclusive access to YOASOBI, a special lounge with a stylish, Japanese-inspired interior. You can sing karaoke, sip drinks, and soak in the relaxing vibe—it’s a great way to spend the evening.

It’s also a fun spot for mingling with other travelers, including many international guests, making it a great opportunity for cultural exchange.

A Comfortable, Modern Room with Warm Japanese Touches

We stayed in an Economy Twin Room, designed with calming wood accents and a clean, modern Japanese style. Though compact, it had everything we needed—Simmons beds, soft two-piece pajamas, and a cozy, restful atmosphere.

Amenities included bamboo toothbrushes, hair brushes, body towels, and a tea set, all reflecting the hotel’s attention to detail and care for the guests.

The bathroom was a compact but functional setup with a shower booth, sink, and toilet—great for both tourists and business travelers alike.

From our room window, we had a nice view of Kyoto’s cityscape. The location also made riverside strolls along the Kamo River easy and enjoyable, especially in the morning or evening.

Start Your Day Right with a Japanese-Western Breakfast Buffet

Breakfast is served in the first-floor restaurant (7:00–9:30, ¥2,500), featuring a well-balanced buffet of both Japanese and Western dishes. You’ll find grilled fish, simmered dishes, miso soup, as well as bread, fruits, and juice.

The food is beautifully presented in traditional Japanese dishware, adding a touch of Kyoto elegance to your morning meal. It’s a relaxing way to start the day and a great way to fuel up before heading out to explore.
