On May 30, 2023, IHG Hotels & Resorts’ premium hotel brand “voco” opened for the first time in Japan.
The following is a lodging report on voco Osaka Central, which opened in Kyomachibori, Osaka.
IHG Hotels & Resorts operates approximately 6,000 hotels in more than 100 countries, including InterContinental, Kimpton, and Hotel Indigo.
voco was created in 2018 and has 46 hotels worldwide. It is a rapidly growing next-generation hotel brand.
The name “voco” means “to invite” or “to call together” in Latin.

The nearest stations to voco Osaka Central are Higobashi Station on the Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line and Yodoyabashi Station on the Midosuji Line.
The hotel was newly built on the site of the previously constructed Kyomachi Building. The hotel has a total of 191 guest rooms on 13 floors above ground. It also has a restaurant, cafe & bar, fitness room, and meeting rooms.
Upon entering the hotel’s entrance, visitors will find themselves in a vaulted lobby. The lobby is made of old trees recovered from actual houses, reclaimed and utilized, and assembled using traditional Japanese techniques.
The ceiling uses a relief design that was used in the Kyomachi Building.

Breakfast at the hotel is served at LOKAL HOUSE, a western grill restaurant on the first floor. Breakfast hours are from 6:30 to 11:00.

Thickly-boiled dashimaki tamago, salmon, black soybeans, kinpira… there is a little bit of everything. It was like a Japanese-style afternoon tea.
Rice and miso soup are picked up from the buffet.
Fluffy rice made from Koshihikari rice produced in Shiga Prefecture and topped with pickles from Iseya.

Salads, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts will be served at the buffet.
The buffet consists of rice, miso soup, bread, granola, and drinks at the main counter on the open kitchen side.
The salad area on the entrance side has a refrigerated case with salads, ham, cheese, cut fruits, and desserts.
Yaki-onigiri grilled rice balls with Kyoto-style dashi broth chazuke, bread and a variety of toppings are also available.
Yaki onigiri ochazuke (grilled rice ball in Kyoto-style dashi broth) looks delicious.
Breads include fruit danish, pain au chocolat, homemade croissants, croissants, bread, whole grain bread, and ciabatta, which you can slice as much as you like.
There is also a wide variety of toppings for bread, such as jams, granola, and nuts.
Osaka honey, marmalade, blueberry jam, green tomato jam, vanilla maple syrup, Nutella, peanut butter, and butter are offered.
